Year 11 and 12

Senior School

It’s been a great start to Term 2, with the Senior School feeling busier than ever. The coordination team has continued to build strong relationships with our students and we look forward to continuing to support them through 2025. As always, we encourage parents and carers to reach out to your child’s coordinator if you have any concerns.

Year 11

Year 11 students from VCE and VM have had a busy term so far, with the end of Unit 1 fast approaching. Exams are just around the corner, with students starting to sit final SACs and assessments for their subjects for Unit 1. Staff will be working hard to prepare students for this time and students are strongly encouraged to check in with their teachers as needed for extra support.

This term we have also had students travel into the city to attend the careers expo at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre where they had the opportunity to explore different careers and pathways that are available, meet with TAFE representatives, and industry professionals. A fantastic day was had by all.

Year 12

As we approach the end of Unit 3, we want to take a moment to celebrate some of our recent events, share important updates, and keep everyone informed about our expectations for success.

The finish line for Unit 3 is in sight. Keep up the hard work, stay organised, push yourselves, and reach out if you need any extra support. Teachers and staff are always here to help guide you through these final weeks of Unit 3 and provide a positive start to Unit 4.

Year 12 Geography

In week 4 of this term the Year 12 Geography class attended a fieldwork excursion to Rosenthal Estate in Sunbury. The objective of the excursion was to respond to a research question and hypothesis about whether this relatively new development was catering to the social and economic needs of those living within it. Students attend a presentation by Paul Millett, whose family has owned the land for generations. He discussed how the land has changed from agricultural to residential over the last 12 year and how it will continue to change to accommodate Sunbury's growing population. Students also collected a range of data, including fieldwork sketches, a traffic count and a habitat analysis. The data collected was then used as a resource for their SAC on Area of Study 2. Students enjoyed the day offsite and the opportunity to apply knowledge gained through this experience.

Athletics Day – Best Dressed and Best Performance Winners!

A huge shout-out to all students who brought energy, colour, and creativity to Athletics Day Catwalk! Congratulations to our Best Dressed and Best Performance winners “Wii Bowling” that consisted of Ayisha Abou-Eid, Shreya Farwaha, Reisha Goundar, Lilian Heazlewood, Ruby Edwards, Chloe Heazlewood, Chelsea Spiers and Addison Lew. You were all “striking”!  – your enthusiasm and school spirit were truly next level. Thank you for making the day fun and unforgettable!

PC Study Skills

After listening to student feedback, our Pastoral Care program has just completed some targeted study skills sessions, during the morning PC sessions. These workshops were designed to support students’ academic journey by building effective study habits, time management techniques, and strategies to assist in information recall. Please continue to use these strategies in and out of school, to promote a successful VCE/VCE VM completion.

Stress Busters Last week all Year 12 students participated in some stress buster initiatives including mindfulness sessions, wellbeing check-ins, and fun activities to help recharge their systems and maintain focus for the remainder of Term 2. Taking care of your mental health is just as important as your physical health and study habits.

E6 - Private study/Lunch room

Just a friendly reminder that E6 is both a designated study space and a lunch venue.  It is everyone's responsibility for keeping it clean, tidy, and behaving respectfully. Whether you're in E6 during your private study sessions, heating up your lunch, or hanging out in the room for your breaks, it’s up to everyone to maintain a positive shared space. The private study room is a privilege we want to maintain for everyone’s benefit.

To keep it open and available, let’s make sure:

  • All food and packaging is tidied up and/or in the bin before the bell music begins
  • Tables and chairs are in their correct grid positions before the private study session begins
  • Noise is kept to a minimum
  • Respect is shown for the space and each other, by using positive language

By meeting these expectations, you will ensure it stays open and is an accessible resource for all students.

‘Meet the Dux’ Our upcoming ‘Meet the Dux’ event is a chance for selected students to hear directly from past and current academic high achievers. They'll be sharing tips, study strategies, and how they balanced school and home life. Invitations for this event will be sent out soon.

Thank you for staying connected and engaged. Let’s finish this term strong – together!

Warm regards

Senior School Team
