Swimming Carnival Report

The 2026 Mater Dei Catholic College Twilight Swimming Carnival was held on Thursday 26 February. Students competed with great spirit under the College catch-cry of “5 Houses- 1 Home” in diving and championship events. A big thank you must go to all staff for their hard work in ensuring another successful College event.

The College Swimming Carnival aims to provide opportunities for competition as well as participation. To have a huge number of students in attendance, (even more than last year) and competing in events showed a fantastic school and House spirit and a willingness to participate by those students who attended the carnival. Thanks must go to the OASIS staff and all of the representatives from Wagga Wagga Swim Club for their help in running the events and timing system and their invaluable help in preparation for the carnival.

With such strong performances in recent years, the number of records broken was only small, however, this does not reflect the very high standard of competition. 2025 saw 4 individual and 2 relay records broken.

With such performances, we will be looking to put together a very strong team as we look to the BISSA Swimming Carnival in the coming weeks.
