This year in the TAS KLA, we are excited to welcome Mr Joe Maitland to our team, he comes with a wealth of knowledge and experience working across Year’s 7 to 10 in a range of TAS subjects.
For our TAS newsletter this term, we are focusing on what the students have enjoyed about the Stage 4 Technology course.
Mixed Materials - Year 8
In our Mixed Materials course, we have two strands; some students are completing a textiles Toy Monster, while others are making a Laser Lightbox project.


I have really enjoyed learning all the different techniques with the stitching and creating our own design. Maddie Thomas


Creating and planning a monster in Sewing has been a new learning experience for me. Mackenzie Walker


One highlight I have is being introduced to Woodworking and cutting my first piece of wood. Emma Ferguson


I have enjoyed working with my friends, doing some woodworking and learning about what tools to use for specific purposes. Evin Jissoy












Agriculture and Food - Year 7
The Agriculture and Food unit has students learning about the Ag Plot, working with animals, maintaining the Vegetable garden and then using fresh produce to follow recipes, cooking their own food.


I have really enjoyed making Fried Rice with my friends, visiting the ag plot was great, especially feeding Gus and picking up the chickens. Kiara Cranberry


Seeing the farm animals and the plants made me feel excited about what we will get to do this year down at the Ag Plot with the plants and animals.

I am excited to learn about the farm animals and that we get to learn and interact with them. I am also excited to do more cooking and baking and research on some of the different dishes that come from other countries.

Engineering - Year 8
Our Engineering unit has started the year by looking at Engineering terminology and the history of catapults. We have started building catapults and testing their limits, then modifying them to gain more distance and accuracy.


I have enjoyed the opportunity to research and find out more about engineering and how engineering helps us in our everyday lives. Estella Cooper-Bettess

Digital Technology - Year 7
Digital Technology has started the year with students learning about cyber security, online scams, and sharing digital items online.


I have enjoyed how we explore the world of technology in multiple ways, learning about cybersecurity. The online activities have been really fun and interesting along with the way it teaches us about privacy online. Jacob Fitzsimmons


How we have been doing interactive online lessons and have been able to practice what we have been taught, using websites like Grok Academy and Atomi. Charles Dunn


A great activity was when we had our school photo, cut it up into lots of different pieces and shared it with everyone in the room. We then had to get all of our pieces back, it showed us how hard it could be to do the same online. Anan Jie


I have enjoyed using my computer to learn technology and we have learnt about scams and how to identify them, we have also learned about cybersecurity. Deval Nwezza
