SPC Old Boy brings POCO Film Festival to Year 11 Media

Luke Keys, an SPC Old Boy and founding member of the POCO Film Festival, visited St Patrick’s College this week to speak with Year 11 Media students. He presented a sample of the work that will be featured in the POCO Film Festival screening this Saturday evening at the Palace Regent.

Industry connections and Q&A opportunity

Luke also offered students the chance to speak with industry professionals involved in the production of the short films. This Q&A session will be held on Sunday at 1.30pm.

Tickets still available

For anyone interested, there are still tickets for sale to both the screening and the industry talks event. See below for details.

Art Club – Boys Learn a New Skill

Two of our staff members, Kath Swagerman and Jen Casey, both experienced crocheters, generously gave up their time to run sessions for students keen to try a new creative skill. While many of the boys admitted it was “a bit harder than it looked”, they remained quite persistent.

Rather than being put off by the challenge, the students returned for the next session, determined to improve their technique. Some even took their work home to finish their squares, showing real commitment and pride in their progress.

Well done to all the boys who gave it a go and thank you to Kath and Jen for sharing their expertise with our very popular Art Club, encouraging creativity beyond the classroom.
