Cheltenham vs Avenues

We are so looking forward to our annual exchange with Avenues College. Our captains and squad members have been training, rehearsing and practising their skills. This extraordinary event holds a special and historical place in our college and is the highlight of our yearly calendar. Squad 59 will be farewelled in a special assembly held at the college on Friday 19th June.

In 1965, keen to apply the principles of inclusion and excellence in sport, Mr. Ross Smith of Victoria and Mr. Jeff Nicholas of South Australia developed the exchange between Gilles Plains High School and Cheltenham High School. The Exchange aimed to challenge students to participate and work towards a higher level of skill in the name of their schools. The very first Exchange Coordinators hoped to broaden the education of their students beyond the classroom and here we are 61 years on and about to embark on our 59th Exchange. 

It is Cheltenham's turn to travel to South Australia and our squad are already warming up their vocal chords for the journey. It will be a noisy and chaotic week at Avenues College (formerly Gilles Plains), the week will be a fun and exciting experience, creating lasting school memories. 

In 2027 Cheltenham Secondary College will be hosting the 60th Exchange between our schools and we can't wait to celebrate this extraordinary milestone.
