Intermediate Girls Football

Well done to Year 10 students Ruby, Charli and Shanaya, who did a fantastic job of recruiting girls from years 9 and 10 to play in the recent Beachside Interschool sports day. Led by their coach, Mr Martin, the team started the morning with team instruction, where the main focus was to have fun.

Braids, plaits and ribbons were all in place before group warm ups and the opening game. Our girls were nothing short of outstanding, while there were some experienced players for Chelt.Sec, everyone contributed to the final scores and a fun day on the field.

Cheltenham defeated McRob 44-0, Elwood 32-0 and Yavneh 38-0. Unfortunately a tough loss to Mentone Girls, in the final, 14-12 kept the girls from progressing to the next round. For this writer, it was by far the most enjoyable day out this year. A wonderful group of talented and kind and caring students. It was a privilege to be their team manager for the day.

Intermediate Girls Netball

Our intermediate girls took to netball with enthusiasm and school spirit. Putting two teams on the court at our recent Beachside Round Robin, both of the Chelt.Sec teams have a lot to be proud of. Team B had mixed results on the scoreboard but their efforts on the outdoor courts all day were super impressive. Battling the wind and rain throughout their six straight games was an amazing effort. The Team B bye round came at the perfect time to watch the final of Team A Chelt.Sec v Mentone. Cheltenham had dominated their pool up to this point and we are happy to report that their winning streak continued against our cross town rivals.

Thank you to Samantha V, who started the day on the scorers bench before filling in for Team B when needed. Throughout the day there were great games by all of the girls. Our Year 9 students Emma P, in defense, and Milly K, in goals, must be commended for their outstanding skills.
