SELC Art and History Excursion

We had an interesting Art and History excursion on 18th May. I went to Melbourne Central with my classmates and teachers.
First, we went to Koorie Heritage Trust by train. We learnt about the history of Australia in the museum. I saw all kinds of hunting tools from ancient times. And there were also descriptions about the fur of animals. I gained a lot of historical knowledge in this museum like the changes made to Yarra River. Now I have a better understanding of the history of Australia.
After that, we went to NGV gallery. We saw a lot of paintings about history, including 19th to 21st century art of Australia. What impressed me the most was a painting that depicted a policeman snatching a child away from his mother. This painting reminded me of a film that we had watched before--Rabbit Proof Fence and the Stolen Generation. This painting and the film both enabled me to understand the cruelty of the Australian governments in the past and the unfair treatment towards native people.
Next, we went to ACDC lane. I saw many amazing paintings. I must admit that at first, I was tired while walking but when I found this street through the map, I suddenly realized that everything was worth it. This street is very lively. It made me feel the vitality of art.
In the end, we took the tram to Melbourne central and had a delicious lunch at a restaurant next to the train station. After lunch, we took the train back to school. It must be said, that was a tiring yet wonderful day.
