Year 8 Murrup Program

In 2026, Year 8 students are participating in the Murrup Program. A year long wellbeing and personal development experience designed to strengthen connection, confidence and resilience during this important stage of adolesence.
Day 1
On Monday 23rd March the Year 8s attended the first day of our new Murrup program. Students travelled to Moonee Ponds via train and participated in the program designed to build connections to their community, build empathy and kindness and consider how they can make choices that will have positive impacts on their peers. The feedback from students after the program was overwhelmingly positive with highlights being the ‘lollipop moments’, link to our PRIDE values and their ‘invisible backpacks’.
Day 2
On Wednesday 27th May, our Year 8 students took part in the second day of the Murrup Program, travelling to Palace Cinemas in Moonee Ponds to watch Big Hero 6. The film follows Hiro as he navigates significant loss, exploring themes of grief, resilience, and emotional wellbeing in a way that resonates deeply with young people. Following the screening, our wellbeing team led a thoughtful debrief, inviting students to reflect on the film’s themes and consider how they connect to their own experiences and emotions.
We were also thrilled to receive extremely positive feedback from Palace Cinemas, who commended our students on their respectful and mature behaviour throughout the excursion — a wonderful reflection of the Strathmore community.
We are looking forward to Day 3 of the program next term.
