 Dear CPS community,

We are enjoying the warmer winter days, although the forecast looks to be changing. As the cold and flu season makes its unwelcome presence felt, multiple staff and students are currently absent from school for this reason. Please assist us by keeping your child home if they are experiencing flu-like symptoms.

We hope all our mums, grandmothers, sisters, carers, aunties and special someone’s had a lovely day last Sunday. We send a BIG thank you to our parent volunteers and the Community Events and Fundraising Committee for planning and putting together a wonderful selection of goodies for our Mother’s Day stall. Our parent volunteers were there to help students with their purchases last week and ensure everyone had the opportunity to buy a gift for their mother or a special person.

We sold out of most items, which is amazing! We collected $3635.70 through the sales of goods, making our profit approximately $504.70. Thank you to the CPS families for supporting this event.

We had a great number of dads, uncles, brothers and some mums joining our Mother’s Day Card making afternoon last Wednesday. Thank you to Ms Tegan Pappin for planning and preparing this wonderful community event for our CPS families.

This week, we commenced the first day of our 3-day Intensive School Support (ISS) alignment. Our school has been selected to participate in the department’s Intensive School Support (ISS) initiative. As part of this, our school will receive prioritised support from the area and region and priority access to department-led programs and professional learning. As part of the program, we have the support of an ISS senior leader (an experienced principal based in the region) complemented by advice from an independent school improvement specialist who will undertake an alignment review that considers our school’s Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) and the support provided by the region and the department.

The alignment review will include fieldwork at the school in term 2, 2026. Fieldwork will include focus groups with staff and students, meetings with the school council president, and classroom observations. Following the conclusion of the fieldwork, we’ll share a summary of key findings and recommendations with the school community. I would like to sincerely thank all the panel members, the students, parents and staff for their involvement in the process.

2025 Annual Report to the School Community

The Annual Report to the School Community provides principals and school councils with an opportunity to share the year’s achievements and progress with the school community. This includes reflecting on the school’s performance and explaining the positive impact of school improvement efforts on student outcomes.  Our Annual Report, along with our Annual Implementation Plan and Schools Strategic Plan, can be found on our School Website.

What is coming up…

Thursday 21st May- Education Week Open Morning 9.05 -10.15 am

All classrooms will be open from 9 am to 10 am to celebrate Education Week. I know that when speaking with the children, they are excited to welcome their families into their classrooms.

Friday 22nd May - District Cross Country

Notices have been issued to those who have made it through to compete at this event.

Tuesday 26th May - National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day remembers and acknowledges the mistreatment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who were forcibly removed from their families and communities, which we now know as ‘The Stolen Generations’. National Sorry Day is a day to acknowledge the strength of Stolen Generations survivors and reflect on how we can all play a part in the healing process for our people and nation.

Wednesday 27th May - National Simultaneous Storytime Foundation – Year 3

CPS teachers and students will join online (whole class) for this National event at 12 pm. Last year, the event reached over 2.3 million participants at over 21,000 locations. An amazing initiative now in its 26th successful year, promoting the importance and enjoyment of reading.

Have a great weekend from the Leadership Team
