Reading

In Reading, the Foundation students have been learning how to segment and blend cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words. They practised breaking worlds into individual sounds and then blending those sounds together to read cvc words such as cat, dog, and sat. Students explored texts, word building mats, and games like CVC Boggle to build and read words. They worked with their peers as they helped each other recognise the sounds and read familiar words.

They shared activities they did over the weekend, after school, and during recess or lunch as they worked on writing a recount. Students used the Think, Say, Draw and Write process to share these experiences with the class.
