Year 10 Pathways and Peer Support

Supporting Future Pathways
At this important stage of schooling, our Year 10 students are beginning to make important decisions about their future learning and career pathways. As a school, we are committed to ensuring every student feels informed, supported and confident as they transition into senior studies and beyond. Attendance at the Subject Selection Evening is mandatory, as students will receive important information from teachers and external providers, as well as their subject selection booklet and subject selection form on the night.
Throughout Term 2, several targeted programs and events will provide students and families with valuable opportunities to explore future pathways, identify strengths and make informed decisions about senior studies or alternate pathways. With support from TAFE NSW, we are pleased to offer additional career exploration opportunities for our students at our up and coming Subject Selection Evening. We also acknowledge Belinda Stevenson from TAFE NSW for her partnership in supporting this important work.
Key opportunities for Year 10 students and families:
- Parent Teacher Night (Years 10, 11 and 12)
- Families are encouraged to attend and engage in meaningful conversations about academic progress, senior pathways and future planning.
- Year 10 My Strengths Program: Monday 15th of June
- Students will participate in activities that help them identify their personal strengths, interests and possible future career directions.
- Year 10 Which Way Now Program: Periods 1 & 2 – Wednesday 17th and Thursday 18th of June
- This program supports students to explore post-school options, including vocational education, training pathways and future study opportunities.
- Year 10 Subject Selection Evening: Supporting Students with Future Pathways Tuesday 30 June | 5:15pm – 6:00pm
- This compulsory information session will guide students and families through the subject selection process for senior school and provide important advice about choosing courses that align with future goals and alternate pathways.
Our focus for Year 10:
- Supporting informed subject selection for Years 11 and 12
- Building awareness of university, training and employment pathways such as traineeships
- Strengthening student understanding of personal strengths and aspirations
- Connecting students with career education and vocational opportunities
- Partnering with families to support successful future planning
We strongly encourage all Year 10 students and families to engage in these opportunities. This is a key time for students to begin planning for life beyond school, and our aim is to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge, support and confidence to make successful choices for their future.
PEER SUPPORT
Our Peer Support Program continues to be a highly valued initiative, creating meaningful connections between our Year 10 student leaders and Year 7 students as they settle into high school life. With 59 Year 10 students actively involved, the program plays an important role in fostering a strong sense of belonging, leadership and school community.
We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm, maturity and leadership shown by our Year 10 students. They have embraced this responsibility with professionalism and care, acting as positive role models and representing our school values with pride.
