WMR Year 7 Girls Soccer

On Wednesday 25th June, our Year 7 girls soccer team travelled to Keilor to proudly represent BHS in the Western Metro Competition. With excitement, determination, and school pride, the team stepped onto the field ready to give their all.

Their first match was against Keilor Downs, where the girls worked together with great energy and focus. It was a tightly contested game that ended in a draw, showcasing strong defence, strategic play, and impressive teamwork. Their second game saw them up against Braybrook. Although the team fought hard and never gave up, they were narrowly defeated in a fast-paced and challenging match.

Throughout the day, the girls demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, respect and resilience, especially in freezing cold conditions. They supported one another both on and off the field, showing what it means to represent BHS. The competition gave our students a fantastic opportunity to develop their skills, build connections, and challenge themselves against other schools in the region.

A huge thank you to the staff and families who supported the team, and congratulations again to our Year 7 girls on their efforts. We’re proud of how you represented our school and look forward to seeing you continue to grow as athletes and team players!

A huge thank you to Mr Hebbard and Maddy for coaching and supporting the team.

WMR Cross Country

Last week, a dedicated team of BHS students headed down to Eastern Gardens to compete in the Geelong Cross-Country event, proudly representing our school among a strong field of competitors from across the region.

The day put our students to the test—demanding stamina, focus, and mental strength as they tackled long distances and fierce competition. In spite of these challenges, our runners displayed outstanding perseverance and teamwork, representing our school with pride and determination.

Each student gave their all, with many achieving personal bests and pushing beyond their limits. A special congratulations goes to those who qualified for the State Cross Country Championships—an outstanding achievement that reflects both commitments to training and competitive grit.

More than just a race, the event provided our students with a valuable opportunity to connect with peers, challenge themselves, and represent BHS with integrity and pride. From cheering on teammates to crossing the finish line, the day was filled with moments that showcased the character and determination of our young athletes.

Junior Girls Football

Our junior girls football team recently took part in an exciting interschool competition, proudly representing BHS with energy, determination, and a whole lot of team spirit.

Across the day, the girls played four competitive matches, kicking things off with a strong win against Grovedale. They followed this with a tough game against Western Heights, where they fought hard but came away with a loss. The team bounced back in style with a solid win over Matthew Flinders before facing Western Heights once more in the grand final—another closely contested game that ended in defeat.

Throughout the day, the team showed incredible resilience, learning from each game and giving their all in every contest. Their ability to support one another, stay positive, and continue pushing right to the final siren was a testament to their respect for one another and team spirit.

The competition provided a great opportunity for our students to develop their footy skills, gain valuable match experience, and enjoy representing BHS in a fun, competitive environment. For many, it was their first taste of interschool football, and they took on the challenge with courage and enthusiasm.

Thank you to Miss Maughan, Britt and Maddy for supporting and coaching the team.
