Year 10 First Aid

Year 10 First Aid
On Wednesday, 18th June, our Year 10 Exercise Science class had the valuable opportunity to complete their First Aid certificate, gaining essential skills and knowledge in emergency response.
Delivered by a qualified trainer from Australian Pacific Training, the session equipped students with essential skills to confidently respond to a range of emergency situations.
Throughout the morning, students learned how to assess dangers, perform CPR, use an AED (automated external defibrillator), manage bleeding, and respond to asthma attacks, and allergic reactions. The training not only developed practical skills but also boosted student confidence in their ability to stay calm and take action in real-world emergencies.
Our facilitator shared that despite Australia having some of the best statistics in the world (top 3) there is still only a 12% chance of surviving a heart attack event after first aid has been provided.
In Seattle – USA – the survival rate is 65% - this is because CPR training is mandatory to graduate from High School. By giving our students this opportunity, we are helping the whole community!
This certification is a valuable addition to their studies in Exercise Science and an important life skill they can carry with them beyond the classroom. Well done to all students for their focus, participation, and commitment to learning such vital knowledge.
