Year 5/6

Welcome back to Term 2! It has been lovely to see how quickly the children have settled back into class and familiar routines. They have returned with a positive attitude and are already showing great focus and enthusiasm for their learning.
In English, we have begun reading our new class novel, Once by Morris Gleitzman. This powerful and engaging story is told from the perspective of a young boy named Felix, who lives in an orphanage during World War II. As Felix sets out on a journey to find his parents, he uses his imagination and storytelling to make sense of the world around him. The children have been highly engaged, asking thoughtful questions and making meaningful connections as we read together.
In Sport, we have started our tennis unit, and our first lesson was full of energy and fun. Tennis is a fantastic way to develop a range of gross motor skills, including hand-eye coordination, balance, agility, and overall body control. It also encourages quick thinking and movement. Beyond the physical benefits, tennis supports important social and well-being skills such as cooperation, resilience, turn-taking, and positive sportsmanship. It has been wonderful to see the children encouraging one another and giving everything a go.
In Art, the children have been working on a special project, and it has been a joy to watch their creativity shine. They are experimenting with different ideas and techniques, and I look forward to sharing their finished pieces with you soon.
We are looking forward to a fantastic term ahead!
