Little Dove Cafe

Hello Kids and Families!

Can you believe we’re already flying through Term 3 and the cold winter days are finally behind us. My favourite wattle trees are now in full, vibrant bloom all around and our island is bursting with colour.

I absolutely love how each season brings something new, not just in nature, but in the food we serve at the canteen. We’re always aiming to be sustainable, and right now is the perfect time to harvest fresh broccoli, cauliflower, kale, silverbeet, and broad beans. They’re growing quickly in our gardens, and we'll be serving them in your meals very soon.

I know green veggies can sometimes seem a little “boring,” but I’m working hard to make them delicious and fun. Sometimes I blend them into soups, mix them into sauces, or sneak them into different dishes so they’re tasty and easy to enjoy, often without you even realising you’re eating something healthy!

Eating fresh, seasonal vegetables is especially important as we head into flu season. They’re packed with vitamins that help keep our bodies strong and ready to fight off any bugs.

I'd like to remind parents that our menu often includes a variety of meats, and we’ve also been introducing more seafood such as squid, blue grenadier, and tuna.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!
