Physical Education

This term in PE, we’ve been getting into the swing of badminton with Coach Carol. The idea came from Pavneet and Diya, and thanks to a Sporting Schools Grant, we were able to make it happen. I’m so glad we did!

The students have absolutely loved it. We’ve been lucky enough to use the beautiful Emmaus gym, which has been perfect for keeping out of the weather and ideal for badminton. Each week, the students skills have grown, they can now serve, juggle, rally, and hit both forehands and backhands with confidence.

Every class from Prep to Grade 6 has joined in, and many have found it easier to pick up than tennis - though our tennis sessions earlier in the year have definitely given them a head start.

Farewell

This is my last PE newsletter, as I’ve taken on an extra day at Sandy Bay Infant School and can no longer fit in my PE day at John Paul II.

A huge thank you to all the students, Teacher Assistants, and the school community for making my time here so rewarding. Highlights include carnivals, Symmons Plains trips, skateboarding, judo, badminton, gymnastics, and dance. Introducing students to new sports they might never have tried and seeing the excitement on their faces as they discovered new skills has been an absolute highlight and something I’ll carry with me always.

I’ll still pop in for relief teaching when I can - until then, stay active, keep having fun, and farewell for now!
