Sustainability in Action

LANDCARE WEEK

Last week we celebrated this national event by planting native trees at our school with Prep and Grade 1 students. We planted Lemon Bottlebrush and Kunzea trees and the children did a great job digging the holes, adding “Alpaca Lollies” (manure) and fresh soil. They watered the plants and finished off by adding mulch. We learnt about the important job that trees do for our planet and why we need to keep planting them.

SEEDS TO SEEDLINGS

Recently Grade 3, 4, 5 & 6 students planted pumpkin, zucchini, silverbeet, pea and corn seeds that we are hoping will grow into healthy seedlings that we can plant in Spring.

TERM 2 SOFT PLASTICS COMPETITION

Last term we had a soft plastics competition that all classes took part in by collecting lots of soft plastics and completing some excellent posters. Final results for Soft plastics competition were:

1st place - Prep - 330 points

2nd place - Grade 6 - 300

3rd place - Grade 4 - 290

Congratulations Prep on winning the competition!
