Leader of Co Curricular
Mr Nathan Smith
Welcome to another term of sport.
Our sporting teams representing the College each and every week are involved in Netball, Football (Soccer) and Rugby League. With every term of competition and throughout each year, we continue to build a strong culture and sporting connections and it’s pleasing to see our teams being competitive and successful across all divisions.
Congratulations to our Senior Boys Touch Football Team who won the Conference Finals at the end of last Term. This has now been two years in a row we have won this final. The boys then went to the Sydney Catholic Schools Championships and played their first match against Patrician Brother’s Blacktown, where they were convincing winners. A quick regroup and the boys were on the field for the final against a red hot Lewisham. In a tight tussle and end to end footy with exceptional plays, our boys won 8-6, becoming the first Sydney Champions for St Aloysius College. Congratulations boys. Many thanks to Mr Hillman for coaching them throughout the term.

Recently we had Cooper Penman, Zayne Pisani, Marshall Barlow and Giselle Barlow represent Sydney Catholic Schools at the NSWCCC Championships. Congratulations to both Cooper Penman and Zayne Pisani for being selected in the NSWCCC Touch Football to play at the National Championships later this year. This is a wonderful achievement and both thoroughly deserved this honour. Special mention to Cooper Penman who was awarded the ‘Mark Hilderbrandt Trophy’ for player of the final.

A special mention to Matilda Fanning, Year 12, for being co-captain of the NSW U19 Netball team that went undefeated and won the National Championships by beating South Australia 39-29 in the holidays. On the back of this, Matilda was then named in the Australian U19 Team to further represent Australia in the coming months. Congratulations Matilda on a wonderful achievement.
