Leader of Year 8 Wellbeing

Mrs Rachel OÇonnor

What a success this year’s Founder's Day was for our Year 8s. I am so proud of the way our students entered into the spirit of this day, remembering the works of St John Baptist de La Salle and being of service to others. Attendance was fantastic and I know this will continue for our special community days in the future. These are what memories are made of and what makes the culture of our school. I would like to particularly thank all students and parents who were so generous in their donations to the school. Every student was so proud of the effort they put into making the day run smoothly. They volunteered their time to run the stalls and were eager to support their Homeroom’s chosen activity.

Year 8 really came into their own during the Talent Show. They were excited but respectful and they really supported all students who performed, especially giving the loudest cheer for two of their own, Maddeline Zappia and Ethan Goward, who wowed the crowd with their exceptional talent.

The reports that I have heard back from various members of the community are very reaffirming and full of praise for all of our students on the day. I would like to thank all teachers, volunteer helpers and our students for entering this day in the right spirit.

Year 8 has a very busy term. Assessments will be continuing over the next few weeks. The athletics carnival is fast approaching in Week 5 and we have our Year 8 Reflection Day on Friday, 15 May. It is really important that students value these days. School is not just about academia, but also growing as a person and building community. Attendance is compulsory on these days and it is important that parents and guardians have a discussion with their child about the importance of these days for growing the whole person.
