Italian Week

The assembly opened beautifully with a recitation of one of my favourite Italian prayers, the "Ave Maria" (Hail Mary), setting a lovely reflective tone before the celebrations began.

The Year 1 students then took to the stage, singing the well-known Italian song "Il Ballo del Qua Qua." They twirled and waddled through all the duck actions with such joy, looking every bit like adorable little Italian ducklings — the audience couldn't help but smile.

The Year 3 students, who have been learning about "Amici" (Friends) this term, sang and moved to the song like true professionals, showing off both their confidence and their growing Italian vocabulary.

To showcase the students' growing linguistic abilities, four fabulous groups of Year 6 students performed skits in Italian and English. They worked cooperatively and with great enthusiasm, clearly proud of what they'd prepared.

Students also came forward to receive their special Italian certificates, awarded for their amazing pasta sculptures — a wonderful display of creativity that tied in beautifully with their Italian learning.

A special mention to Baban, who did a wonderful job presenting in Italian — a real standout moment of the assembly.

A big thank you also to the classroom teachers, who assisted the students with learning and perfecting their actions — their support behind the scenes made such a difference to the performances.
