Wear It Purple Day

On Friday, 28th of August, the Wellbeing team organised a day of celebration dedicated to supporting LGBTQIA+ youth within our school community and providing students with an opportunity to express their passion and pride. On the day, students and staff were encouraged to wear purple accessories to show their support for their fellow students.

The day included activities for students, such as karaoke and badge-making, with representatives from Youth Services also attending to provide resources and support. Despite the rainy weather, students and staff came together to show their support and take part in the activities throughout the day.

Wear it Purple was initially founded in 2010 in response to the struggles students faced with a lack of acceptance of their sexuality or gender identity.

These annual events are run in various schools across Australia to show support and bring awareness to these issues.

We appreciate the time and effort the Wellbeing team put into running the event. Its success can be attributed to them and everyone involved in its organisation. Tarneit Senior College is proud of all our students and the support they continue to show their peers.
