Principal's Report

There is a place for everyone at Beaumaris — and at Beaumaris, everyone can find their place in the world.

I hope everyone enjoyed the long weekend and had the opportunity to recharge ahead of a busy final few weeks of term.

We have recently received our preliminary enrolment figures for Year 7 2027, which reflect very strong interest in Beaumaris Secondary College and continued growth in demand for enrolment at the college. These early figures are a positive indication of the confidence families are placing in our school and are something our entire community should be very proud of.

As we move towards the end of the semester, it has been wonderful to see students continuing to embrace the many learning, leadership, sporting and co-curricular opportunities on offer across the college.

School Council Acknowledgement – Shaun Mooney

On Tuesday 2 June, we gathered to thank our former School Council Treasurer Shaun Mooney, who recently stepped down after serving in the role since the establishment of the college in 2017.

Over the past nine years, Shaun has made a significant contribution to the college through his financial expertise, thoughtful guidance and ongoing commitment to our community. His support and stewardship have helped shape the growth of the college and contributed to the many opportunities available to our students today.

On behalf of the Beaumaris Secondary College community, I thank Shaun for his dedication and service and wish him all the very best for the future.

Throughout the term, students have participated in a variety of courses including Barista Training, White Card Training, Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) Training, Food Handlers Certificate training and a Silver Service Hospitality Course. These experiences help students build confidence, develop workplace-ready skills and gain recognised certifications that can support future employment and further study opportunities.

Year 10 & VCE Unit 1 Exams

Congratulations to our Year 10 and Year 11 students on the completion of their examinations this week. Students approached the examination period with maturity and resilience, demonstrating their preparation, perseverance and commitment to their learning.

The examination process provided valuable experience in developing important study habits, time-management skills and confidence completing assessments under exam conditions, supporting students as they continue their academic journey and prepare for future senior studies.

Live music returned to the amphitheatre on Friday 29 May as our Year 9 and 10 Making the Musician students presented their second lunchtime concert as part of their Project Based Learning (PBL). Student Attitudes to School Survey

Over the past month, students have participated in the annual Attitudes to School Survey.

We are looking forward to hearing what our students want us to know about being a Beaumaris student. Key findings will be shared with our community next term.

Arts Festival – It Takes a Community to Raise a Child

Next Thursday evening, we look forward to hosting our Arts Festival, It Takes a Community to Raise a Child. This special event brings together students from Beaumaris Secondary College, Beaumaris Primary School, Beaumaris North Primary School and Black Rock Primary School in a celebration of creativity, collaboration and community. Families will have the opportunity to explore visual art, ceramics, media works, music and performances, including our collaborative Ceramic Village installation. We warmly invite our community to join us for what promises to be a wonderful evening showcasing the talents of our young people.

Student Initiative Leads to Melbourne Cup Tour Visit

Beaumaris Secondary College has been selected as a stop on the 2026 Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour, with the Melbourne Cup trophy set to visit the college later this year as part of the national community tour coordinated by the Victoria Racing Club (VRC).

The opportunity came about following an independent application submitted by Year 7 student William P, who nominated the college as a potential host destination. We would like to acknowledge William’s initiative, pride and enthusiasm in wanting to showcase our school community.

The Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour has operated since 2003 and visits communities, schools and regional centres across Australia and internationally each year, celebrating the history and significance of one of Australia’s most recognised sporting and cultural events. Since the tour began, the Melbourne Cup has visited hundreds of schools around the country. Beaumaris Secondary College was one of a record number of applicants this year and was selected as an official tour destination for 2026.

Further details regarding the visit and any associated activities will be shared with the community closer to the date.
