Look what’s been happening in Year 1!
On Wednesday the 20th of May Year One travelled to Melbourne Zoo to explore and observe the wonderful animals on display.
This term Year One have been writing information reports about animals. We travelled to the zoo to see the animals that we have been learning about close up. We were very lucky with the weather and everyone had a very enjoyable day!
As part of this unit, they investigated interesting facts about animals and used this information to write their own information reports. Students also enjoyed creating an animal craft, combining their literacy learning with creativity to produce some fantastic work.
The students in Year One have been investigating ‘addition’ using manipulatives.
1MC enjoyed making small and large doubles using unifix blocks and recording their findings with the matching addition number sentences.
Our Year One students investigated capacity through practical, hands-on activities. The goal was to discover how much different containers can hold. Students learn to compare, estimate and measure volume using everyday objects.
