Child Safe Standard 5 – Equity is Actioned and Diversity is Respected
At our school, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and included. This commitment is reflected in Child Safe Standard 5, which focuses on ensuring that equity is upheld and diversity is respected in all aspects of school life.
This means we actively work to create a learning environment where every student is treated fairly, supported appropriately, and able to fully participate, regardless of their background, abilities, family structure, culture, religion or identity.
What does Standard 5 mean in practice?
At our school, we embed this standard by:
- Promoting a strong culture of respect and inclusion across all classrooms and school activities
- Supporting the diverse learning and wellbeing needs of all students
- Recognising and celebrating cultural diversity within our community
- Ensuring students have equitable access to learning opportunities and support
- Encouraging understanding, empathy and respect among students
Supporting every learner
We know that children thrive when they feel a strong sense of belonging. Our staff work closely with students and families to identify individual needs and provide appropriate support so that every child can engage meaningfully in their learning and school experience.
We are fortunate to have dedicated staff available to support families with learning needs, adjustments, and wellbeing matters.
Our Diversity Leaders, Sonia Dunne and Luda Zhang, are available to discuss learning needs and adjustments and support inclusive practices across the school. In addition, Luda also serves as our Mental Health in Schools Officer, supporting families to access external referrals and services to assist with all aspects of mental health and wellbeing.
Our Wellbeing Leader and Child Safety Officer, Danielle Rowley, is also available to assist with any child safety or wellbeing concerns.
A safe and inclusive culture
Respect for diversity is central to our school values. We explicitly teach students to appreciate differences, challenge discrimination, and stand up for fairness and kindness in their interactions with others.
By fostering inclusion, we help build a school environment where every child feels seen, heard and respected.
If you would like to learn more about our child safe practices or discuss any aspect of your child’s experience at school, please contact the school office.
