Term 4 in SEL (Social & Emotional Learning)
Grade 4 – Social and Emotional Learning
In Grade 4, students are exploring social and emotional learning, with a focus on friendships, relationships and understanding themselves and others. Through the Onion of Friendship and different friendship styles, students are learning about the layers of friendship, how relationships develop and how to recognise healthy and supportive friendships. They are also developing their understanding of empathy, respectful communication, personal boundaries and strategies for navigating friendship challenges. These activities are helping students build the skills and confidence to form positive relationships and contribute to a caring and inclusive classroom community.
Grade 5 – Leadership
In Grade 5, students are exploring the qualities that make a great leader by learning about inspiring figures such as Malala Yousafzai, Nelson Mandela and Cathy Freeman. They are investigating how these leaders have influenced others, overcome challenges and created positive change. Students are also analysing what makes an effective leadership speech, considering how powerful messages, persuasive language, personal stories and confident delivery can inspire an audience. These skills will support students as they begin developing their own understanding of leadership and what it means to lead with purpose.
Grade 6 – Graduation Preparations and Leadership
Excitement is building as Grade 6 students begin preparing for their graduation video and looking ahead to their leadership roles in 2027! Students are busy creating skits, selecting graduation songs and brainstorming creative ways to capture their favourite primary school memories.
