Literacy
We are very excited to have learnt all the letters of the alphabet, what a fantastic achievement! For the remainder of the year, students will continue developing their literacy skills by learning a variety of digraphs through the Little Learners Love Literacy program.
Our current mentor text is Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!, which the students have found absolutely hilarious. The story has sparked lots of laughter and engaging discussions in the classroom.

Mathematics
In Mathematics, we have been exploring place value and counting. These skills are important because they help students develop a strong understanding of numbers and how they are represented.
During our learning, students have been working on:
- Representing numbers to 20 using concrete materials.
- Matching numerals and collections to 20.
- Identifying one more and one less for numbers to 20 using materials.
During our Applied Mathematics sessions, students have been learning to directly compare the length of two objects by identifying which objects are shorter, longer, or the same length. We have also been exploring height by comparing objects and identifying items that are taller or shorter than themselves.
Wellbeing
Wellbeing
In Wellbeing, students have been exploring Topic 4: Problem Solving Activities 1 and 2. Through these activities, students have been learning to recognise how people might feel when others act in ways that are unfair or unkind. They have also been discussing how their own actions and decisions can affect the feelings and wellbeing of others.
Students have been developing their understanding of fairness, kindness, and empathy by exploring different social situations and considering how people may feel when decisions are not fair. These discussions help students build positive relationships and make thoughtful choices that support a respectful and caring classroom environment.
In the coming weeks, students will participate in Topic 4: Problem Solving Activity 3.

Reminders
Satchels and Home Reading
Please ensure your child brings their satchel to school each day. To borrow a new coloured decodable book, your child must first return their current book. Once all boxes on the home reading sheet have been completed, please see your classroom teacher to collect a new sheet.
There is a QR code inside your child’s Boomerang Book which allows you to access Little Learners Love Literacy books online for additional reading practice at home. Here is a link to assist with reading: Reading at Home
Here is a link to the Cued articulation we use, however, please note that we are not currently teaching all of the sounds featured in this video.
Library
Please send a named bag with your child on their library day so they can bring a book home to enjoy. Students have received a red material bag from their teacher which would make a great library bag!
Library Times:
Prep A, B, C, D, E on Thursdays
Shoelaces
We have noticed there are many children who come to school with laces. If they can't tie their laces, it is recommended they have velcro shoes. Here is a video to assist with learning to tie laces.

Dojo Rewards
Congratulations to all students who have achieved their Silver Award (150 points). Certificates will be presented during assembly while students stand with their class. Students will choose their reward in consultation with their teacher.
Alphabet Day
On Wednesday, the Prep students enjoyed celebrating their learning of the alphabet with a day full of fun activities. We began with an Alphabet Parade, where students proudly showcased their amazing costumes. Back in the classroom, students drew pictures of their costumes and wrote about what they were wearing.
Throughout the day, we played Alphabet Bingo, created a giant alphabet banner, and participated in a variety of engaging alphabet games. We also enjoyed a special picnic together to celebrate our learning.
Thank you to all our families for helping your children create and wear their wonderful costumes. Your support helped make the day such a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone!
Letter Recognition Game:
Let's play a Letter Challenge! Set a timer for one minute and see how many letters you can name. Record your score each time you play. Can you beat your score with each new attempt? Keep practising and watch your letter recognition skills grow! 🌟
