Mt A Marvel
Alyssa (Year 10) - Simpson Prize winner (QLD)
Congratulations to Alyssa (Year 10) who recently travelled to Canberra as the QLD winner of The Simpson Prize.
The Simpson Prize is a civics-based, national research competition for Year 9 and 10 students which focuses on the service of Australians in World War One and World War Two.
Entrants of the 2026 competition were required to evaluate the usefulness of diary entries, letters and photographs for providing evidence about the contrasting experiences and perspectives of Australians who served the First World War.
The College had 20 students complete the task, with three essays (the maximum number per school) submitted into the competition.
Alyssa's essay was awarded as the top submission from QLD, and Olivia (Year 10) was recognised with a Highly Commended.
In April, Alyssa along with the other 7 state and territory winners, will travel overseas for an extensive commemorative study tour culminating in Anzac Day ceremonies at that location.
Thanks to our Humanities Faculty for helping make this opportunity possible.

We know our students are incredibly talented and achieving so many wonderful things –and we want to celebrate them!
Please share your daughter’s achievements with her Head of House so they can be recognised and celebrated within our Mt A community.
