Spotlight on Learning
Dear Families,
Week 7 has been another wonderful week in Foundation! We celebrated Book Week on Monday 24th, and it was fantastic to see the students arrive dressed as their favourite book characters. There were so many creative and colourful costumes, and the children loved sharing their characters and stories with each other. On Wednesday 26th, we were also very lucky to attend Mass as guests of the Year 1 students. It was a lovely opportunity for our Foundation students to participate in the celebration and experience Mass alongside our older students. It has been a busy and successful week, and we are so proud of the way our Foundation students continue to learn, participate and grow together!

Religious Education:
Next week in Religious Education, we will explore the idea of God as a loving Father who cares for everyone. We will talk about the fathers and father figures in our lives and reflect on the things we are thankful for. We will also celebrate Father’s Day by creating a special drawing or writing a few words to show our appreciation for the important people in our lives.

English:
Next week we will be continuing our reading of Zog by Julia Donaldson. A story about a young dragon who is learning how to be a dragon. Zog tries his best, even when he makes mistakes, and learns new skills each year. With help from a kind friend, he keeps trying and never gives up. We will use this story to talk about perseverance, learning from mistakes, asking for help, and always trying our best.
If you would like to share the story with your child, please follow the link below.
Mathematics:
In Mathematics, students will continue exploring numbers within 10 using a number track. We will practise finding the difference between two numbers, counting on to find the total of two numbers, and counting back to solve subtraction problems. Students will develop their confidence using a number track to help them solve addition and subtraction problems.

Integrated Curriculum:
This term, our Integrated learning will focus on The Arts.
Next week in Inquiry, students will continue exploring Zog through drama and media arts. In drama, they will take on the role of the doctor and practise showing empathy, kindness and care through their actions and words. In media arts, students will create a simple photo story to capture a caring moment, exploring how pictures, facial expressions and body language can help tell a story and communicate feelings.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL):
Next week in SEL, students will continue learning about positive gender relationships by exploring how everyone deserves to be treated with kindness, fairness and respect. They will discuss how stereotypes can limit people, celebrate that everyone has different strengths and interests, and practise including and encouraging others in their learning and play.

Auslan:
Next week in Auslan, students will be reviewing and practising signs they have previously learnt.

You can also support your child's learning by:

Fidget Toys
We kindly ask that students do not bring fidget toys to school unless their use is a planned adjustment in consultation with Allied Health Professionals. Students who bring fidget toys without an approved adjustment will be asked to place them in their school bag for the remainder of the day to take home. We appreciate your support in encouraging your child to leave fidget toys at home.
Spare clothes/change of clothes
Please pack spare clothes with a pair of socks and underwear to be placed in the front zip pocket of your child's school bag in case of a toileting accident or when they get muddy during recess and play time.

Enjoy your weekend,
