2D shapes

In Maths, the Foundations have been learning about 2D shapes! They have been learning about Circles, Triangles, Squares and Rectangles. In particular, this week they have been talking about the features of a shape- what they look like and their name. They have also been sorting shapes into groups in different categories. Here are some examples.

Sentence Writing

This week we have been practicing our sentence writing. Here are some photos of our sentences using tricky words we are learning and using the letter 'l' that we just learned!

Room on the Broom

This week in the Literature block of our Literacy time, we have been looking at the book Room on the Broom. We have been doing lots of discussions about the parts of a story such as the Characters, Setting, Problem and Solution. Here are some retells of the story that the Foundations retold on Seesaw.

We also made our own brooms with the characters from the story!

ECOSS Excursion

On Wednesday 25th June the F/1/2 students will be attending ECOSS in Wesburn. ECOSS is an environmental and educational not-for-profit community hub committed to showcasing sustainable solutions. This excursion compliments our learning about Sustainability that we are currently undertaking in the classroom.

Here is an outline of our day out:

  • 9am: Meet at Wesburn Park for a Trail Walk and Play, including fruit snack
  • 11am: Walk over to ECOSS for a tour
  • 12:15pm: Propagation Session (in the Polytunnel greenhouse)
  • 1pm: Lunchtime & Play
  • 1:45pm: Tall Trees Session
  • 3pm: Pickup from ECOSS

The excursion to ECOSS will be the whole day. We require Students to be dropped off at Wesburn Park by 9am and collected from ECOSS at 3pm. Teachers will supervise students from 8:45am and 3:15pm, for those who arrive early or for parents coming from school. This allows drop off/pick up of siblings at school.

Students will be required to wear their full sports uniform, including suitable runners as we will be walking around the Wesburn Park Trail and around ECOSS. We request that a waterproof jacket also be worn. A small bag containing their normal lunch and drink bottle, will also be required.

If the weather is looking quite wet, we will organise an alternative with ECOSS and give you 24 hours notice.

We are looking forward to a great day out as a group!
