Aussie Sports Day 5/6
A great day today for all our year 5 and 6 students. Here are a few of their thoughts
"We did the sports expo on Friday at Yarra Junction, Upper Yarra, and Launch Primary School, but I just went to Yarra Junction and Launch.
We got put into groups, I was in a group with Harper and Clara and we were put into a group with other people from different schools and a different teacher.
We did basketball, lawn balls, hula hoop and hip hop My favorite was basketball, of course, but I did like all the other ones and thought they were fun." Marley
"My favorrite was probably hula hooping and basketball but the other ones were extremy fun as well ofc , for lawn balls we were in teams of two. I was witha kid from a different school and we did pretty well and won quite a few games. For basketball we did drills and at the end we did a small game.
After we went to the Launching Place school and did hula hooping. we learnt a way to get a hula hoop up you and down you without holding it and a few more fun tricks as well.
Lastly we did hip hop it was actually so much fun. We learnt an easy combo, then some free styling. At the end we made a dance circle. I went in the dance circle with Marley we both did a cartwheel to a handstand to the floor to a back breaker . Over all it was an extremely fun day !!" Harper
"I was in group number six with Cameron, Liam, Parker H, Grady, Toby and Hudson.
We first hopped on a bus to go to the Yarra Centre, and were separated into group. We were on the tennis court near the Centre.
Our first activity was right there on the court, tennis! I was super excited, because I find tennis really fun to play. We practiced some basic skills and applied them to a classic game of Red light, Green Light. We had to throw the ball up and hit it some different ways. After we did that, we paired up to do a real game! I was paired with Parker H who was really good at tennis. In the end I went 6 wins and 4 losses.
Then we went to our next activity, GYM! I thought we were going to the Yarra Centre gym, but it turned out to be an abbreviated form of gymnastics. We did a couple really hard stretches, and then we did sets of gymnastic stuff like mantling and rolling. I didn’t really like this activity because I didn’t find it entertaining.
We then had Hockey and did a ton of activities to get points and I hit all my shots.
Finally we did hula hoops which was really confusing because we did a ton of tricks." Bennett
