Rookie Band Excursion

Monday 17 June

Our Rookie Band and Junior Piano students were treated to a fabulous performance at Hamer Hall from Orchestra Victoria and talented pianist, Andrea Lam.

The performance consisted of a variety of works chosen by Lam, for their significance in her life and career, interwoven with conversation where she shared the stories behind their selection.

Before the concert, students wandered through the Australian Music Vault to experience the immersive exhibition showcasing the history of the Australian music scene.

The fantastic day was topped off with lunch on the banks of the Yarra River in the sunshine.

Mid-Year Melodies Concert

On Thursday 20 June, our larger bands and ensembles entertained a capacity audience at our annual Mid-year concert.

Thank you to our Performing Arts Captains, Ayla and Noah who MC’d the evening and performed an original song to kick off the evening.

Rookie Band Captain

Congratulations Saskia Westendorp of 7A for being awarded the 2024 Rookie Band Captaincy.

Saskia is a motivated and enthusiastic member of band who demonstrates leadership and is a positive role model for her peers.

ANZCA Music Exams

Congratulations to the following students who recently sat their first music exam; Isla Canning (piano), Charlie Glenn (voice) and York Newell (voice).

Beyond the music, script or routine, exams assess essential skills like technique, sight-reading, aural recognition, general knowledge and improvisation.

These additional requirements enrich the learning experience, creating well-rounded performers who are better equipped for success in their musical journey. We wish you all the best for your results.

We wish everyone the best of luck for the FINAL on Friday 19 July, after the holidays.

LHS Guitar

This term we welcomed guitar teacher, Damien Thomas to the Instrumental Music team. Damien has a strong teaching background and is already proving to be a ‘hit’ with his students.

Damien works with our younger students developing techniques on their choice of music styles. Our senior students are working towards examination skills such as technical control, expression and stylistic understanding.

Welcome Damien!
