Sock it to the Can

During Term 2, we coordinated a number of activities focusing on supporting people in our community who may be vulnerable or less fortunate than us. As the weather cools, we recognise that many in our community go without food, warmth and other necessities at times.

We were absolutely overwhelmed and overjoyed at the support and care shown by our College Community in donating an incredible array and amount of items for us to gift to our local St Vinnie’s.

Seeing firsthand the difference this made to our local St Vinnie’s, their volunteers and their supplies continues to solidify our drive and call to be of service to others.

A heartfelt thank you to our College Community who responded to this call and continues to care for, support and lift those in need and who are vulnerable in our community.

Bishop Rene Ramirez’s Installation - 30th July

Next week, the Catholic Diocese of Sandhurst will celebrate a significant moment in its history with the installation of Bishop René Ramirez RCJ as the ninth Bishop of Sandhurst. The Installation Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Bendigo, on Thursday 30th July, 2026.

Bishop René was appointed by Pope Leo XIV in April this year and succeeds Archbishop Shane Mackinlay, who served as Bishop of Sandhurst before his appointment to Brisbane.

Originally from the Philippines and a member of the Rogationists of the Heart of Jesus (RCJ), Bishop René brings extensive pastoral experience and a deep commitment to evangelisation, vocations and parish renewal. Before his appointment, he served as an Auxiliary Bishop in the Archdiocese of Melbourne and is already well known to many across Sandhurst through his ministry in Shepparton South, Nagambie and Rushworth.

The installation of a new bishop is a significant occasion for the entire diocesan community. As Bishop René begins his ministry as Bishop of Sandhurst, we join Catholics across the diocese in giving thanks for his leadership and praying for God's blessing upon him. May the Holy Spirit guide him with wisdom, courage and joy as he leads us in faith and inspires us to live the Gospel through learning service and community.

Please join us in offering our prayers and warmest welcome to Bishop René as he begins his ministry as the ninth Bishop of Sandhurst.

St Augustine’s College Student Leadership 2027

As we continue to support, guide, collaborate with and grow our 2026 Student Leaders, we look to begin our process of application for our prospective 2027 Student Leaders. We look forward to sharing further information with you regarding this in the coming weeks.

Prayer

Loving God,

We thank you for the gift of our Church and for the many people who lead us in faith.

As Bishop René begins his ministry as Bishop of Sandhurst, bless him with wisdom, courage and joy. May he be guided by your Holy Spirit as he leads your people with compassion, hope and faith.

As we prepare to celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, help us to follow her example of trust in you and service to others. May we be people of kindness, perseverance and generosity, especially towards those in need.

As we prepare for the Feast of St Augustine, our patron saint, deepen in us a love of truth, wisdom and learning. Inspire us, like Augustine, to seek you with open hearts and curious minds and to recognise your presence in our daily lives. May his example encourage us to grow in faith, build strong relationships and use our gifts in service of others.

Bless our students, families and staff.  May our school community continue to grow in faith, learning and love, always seeking to share the light of Christ with those around us.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Amen
