VET Alliance Taster Day – Explore Your Future!

Next week, our current Years 9 and 10 students who have expressed an interest in undertaking a VET program in 2027 have the opportunity to be involved in our VET Alliance Taster Day. This day aims to provide students who are considering a Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathway with the opportunity to explore the courses available through the VET Alliance before making subject selections in future years.

Throughout the day, students will visit all three VET Alliance schools - Nathalia Secondary College, St Mary’s of the Angels Nathalia, and St Augustine’s Kyabram, where they will learn about the range of VET courses on offer, tour specialist training facilities, meet VET trainers and observe current students participating in practical learning activities. This experience will help students gain a better understanding of course expectations, the hands-on nature of VET learning and the many career pathways that these programs can lead to. Students will observe Cookery, Automotive, Building and Construction, Hair Dressing, Sport, Aquatics and Recreation and Engineering classes on the day.

Kyabram District Health Service (KDHS) Allied Health Industry Immersion

Students in Year 10 with an interest in nursing and healthcare will also have the opportunity to participate in the Allied Health and Nursing Immersion being held at Kyabram and District Health. This experience allows students to gain firsthand insight into healthcare workplaces while exploring careers in nursing and allied health. They will learn about the skills, qualifications and personal attributes required for these professions, connect classroom learning with real-world practice and engage with industry professionals. Importantly, students will also discover the wide range of rewarding healthcare career opportunities available within our local community.

Year 10 Work Experience

During Week 10 of Term 2, our Year 10 students had the opportunity to step beyond the classroom and into the workplace, gaining valuable real-world experience to help shape and guide their future pathways.

Our Year 10 Work Experience Program provides students with the opportunity to explore potential careers, build confidence and independence, develop practical workplace skills and gain a better understanding of employer expectations and the world of work. It also introduces students to recruitment practices, pathways and possibilities while strengthening employability skills, and can open doors to future employment opportunities.

We congratulate all of our 10B students for embracing this exciting learning experience and taking the next step in their career and pathways exploration.

Thank you to all the local businesses who hosted our students during the week. These learning experiences are a valuable part of our Career Education and Pathways Program.

Year 9 Industry Day

Last term, our Year 9 students attended the Kyabram Industry Day, organised by Campaspe Cohuna Local Learning and Employment Network (CCLLEN) and supported by a range of businesses.

Our students joined students from other local schools to participate in workshops, giving them valuable insight into the many career pathways and employment opportunities available after completing their studies.

A big thank you to all the presenters for sharing their knowledge and experiences and to our Year 11 VCE VM students for preparing a fantastic morning tea for attendees and presenters.

Goulburn Valley Tertiary Information Day - Sunday 9 August

The University of Melbourne Department of Rural Health's Shepparton campus will be open on Sunday 9th August 2026 for the Goulburn Valley Tertiary Information Day.

This is a great opportunity for prospective students and their families to explore study pathways, discover careers in health and learn more about university life in a regional setting.

AUSSEF STEM Competition

The 2026 Australian Science and Engineering Fair (AUSSEF) – Australia’s premier STEM competition for Years 9-12 students is now open. We are on the hunt for those students who are passionate in developing innovative computer programs, are keen inventors or designers, have found a new mathematical relationship or have made a new scientific discovery. 

We are on the lookout for passionate Years 9-12 students, who have a project idea in the area of Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics. With a huge range of 22 categories, there is scope for every student to work on a project that is of interest to them. 

Projects are due on Wednesday 11th November and our top nine projects will win an all-expenses-paid-trip to represent Australia at ISEF to be held in Los Angeles from May 9-14, 2027. There is no entry fee.
