House Leader Reports

KOROROIT

With Term 2 wrapping up, we’ve already finished more than what we first hoped! From snatching chorals, to house dance, we’ve accomplished so much as a united house and the team couldn’t be more proud of your efforts 😋.

After our amazing win in chorals, we kept going with our first win in House Dance! With the best house arts captain, Jasmine, leading the group to victory, we also grabbed second in House Art! Everyone’s artwork was amazing and it was definitely a tight competition! Needless to say, we still took People’s and Judge’s choice and are now looking forward to the long-awaited performances from scripted and devised pieces for House Drama!

Speaking of House Drama - during this term they’ve had the chance to develop their acting skills through Drama workshops! Houses were split into their teams (Devised and Scripted) and worked together to hone both their abilities and their respective stories - so get excited to see their hard work! This is also a great opportunity to see if you’d like to participate in this for the future so don’t be afraid to try it out!

This month, the push up challenge returned in full swing with Suzanne Cory students getting involved to show their support for charitable initiatives like Lifeline…but also to get more house points along the way😝. Now, whilst we most definitely can't predict the future, as the push up challenge hasn’t finished yet; given the pace we’re on right now - we are sensing this might be another win to add to the collection, so stay tuned for the next newsletter where we can fully gloat about triumphing in that too!!

Of course, while we have been busy taking events one by one, it’s important to take care of yourselves with the year getting more challenging. Term 3 will be busier and longer than ever, but it will all work out with proper rest and keeping an eye on yourself and others.

There will be more things to anticipate in the next term, from more exciting events to opportunities in leadership - so don’t miss out!!!!!!!!

Signing off,

ROTHWELL🦅🦅🦅

What an absolutely solid term this has been for us!! Since our last update, some of Rothwell's best have showcased their artistic skills in the House Art Competition, and we're so proud of everyone who contributed! The diverse range of artistic expressions, from vivid and colourful to raw and emotional, highlighted the incredible talent and imagination within our house.

What’s more is we’ve also been demonstrating our physical prowess in the Push Up Challenge, which is for house points and a good cause! We've witnessed amazing determination and perseverance, with many students pushing themselves to new heights (or should we say new lows haha!😝). Everyone’s commitment to physical fitness and teamwork has really been in the Rothwell spirit, and we could definitely clinch first place.

We’re also cooking hard in our house drama, as the workshops have been going in full swing. Both the scripted and devised teams have been popping off, and this is our chance to repeat what we did last year as the first house to ever win a house drama. Don’t forget to cheer everyone on the day too.

Again, a huge, huge well done to everyone who participated and helped Rothwell show off our might in the art, as well as the ongoing push up challenge and house drama. These accomplishments reflect not only individual talents but also the spirit of collaboration and support that defines our house. We are immensely proud of each and every one of you.

We’re already looking forward to the final term of house points for 2024, and can't wait to see what we do. Keep up the great work! Let’s continue to keep our heads high and rep the rothwell spirit!

COTTRELL

With Term 2 now coming to a closure, half of the year has gone by! So much has happened, and so many events went by.

House Art was absolutely fabulous, with many members of our house showing their artistic talent and passion through the various pieces that were presented. It makes us extremely proud to be able to see the fabulous artworks that were created. Thank you to all of you who put your time and effort into producing those gorgeous artworks. We’re so proud of what has been done. In hand with that is the House Dance. A massive shoutout to the year 9’s who spent their time to practice and produce that amazing performance! Good job and thank you for your hard work. Also, an extra special shoutout to our SPECTACULAR House Arts Captain Sargun for her insane work in helping ensure that these events ran smoothly!! Without her, none of this would have been possible.

Now, with the month of June coming to an end, the Push Up challenge that has been going on since the start of this month is also coming to a closure. It is evident just how many people are pushing their limits and attempting to complete all of their push ups. Thank you so much for your hard work and keep it up!! To those of you who haven’t started yet, there is still time. Just sign up and do a couple push ups. Something - even if it is small - is better than nothing. The more participants we have, the better we can perform as a house!

Coming up next, we have House Drama! Our Devised and Scripted teams have been working super hard behind the scenes to ensure that a stunning performance will be provided to the teachers and to all of you. The performances will be happening during Week 8 of Term 3, so make sure to come along to cheer your peers along!

Look, this has been a VERY long term and I’m sure all of you are exhausted from these eleven weeks which has seemed to drag out forever. So, make sure to rest up and enjoy your holidays! Term 3 will be a heavy one too, with plenty of activities and also your exams coming up. So make sure to really take a break and take some time out for yourself. Finally, for those of you doing the UCAT, good luck! Just do your best and try not to stress too much about it. Hopefully, your efforts will all pay off in the end.

Yours truly,

Khathab Sheefer (C5) and Lilliana Carroll (C4) 🦚💚

BLACKWOOD

Term one and term two are done and dusted! And we’ve had an amazing term full of so many different moments to be proud of! Before we get right into all the activities which have occurred, we just want to take a moment to say how proud of you we are. There are so many moments this semester where we’ve seen the Blackwood pride shine through, and we truly hope that this half of the year has helped make Blackwood a more fun and inclusive space for you :)

Now, here are some lovely updates from our captains:

“Term 2 has been really eventful for Blackwood, especially within the Arts domain! Blackwood came in second place in House Dance with a truly spectacular performance. Well done to all our talented dancers: Hansika, Annelise, Krishna, Mahesha, Meagan, and Sarayu—you did us proud!

Additionally, we won House Art, which is a tremendous achievement. A huge thank you to everyone who participated and submitted such marvellous pieces, including Justine, Issam, Krishna, Angelina, Minn, Mei, Samika, Mai and Tim. The theme was "transformation," and the creativity shown was incredible. A special shoutout to Minn for her piece, "The Diver," which received the Judge's Choice for Blackwood.

Looking ahead, House Drama is well underway, and Blackwood is making solid progress. Everyone involved is super excited to create something extraordinary, and we can't wait to perform it in Term 3. Sign-ups for the backstage crew will be released next term, so keep an eye out on Compass!” - Your Arts Captain, Siya Gauri Singh

“First of all I am so proud of everyone for all their hard work this  semester, from swimming carnival to athletics and all inter house sports. Massive congratulations and our hard work has been paying off. We've bested all the other houses in general for all our sports, whether it be GBA with our blackwood team coming first and winning the finals, or Soccer finals coming up (easily we are gonna win the other houses don't stand a chance). Even with the pushup challenge, there was a massive effort from some Blackwoodians to help gain some points for our house. It's been a massive effort from everyone, the more participants we have the more points we gain. All the points are gonna help when we make a massive push towards the house cup!! Enjoy all your breaks everybody, rest up there's still another whole term of sports coming up and plenty of opportunity for everyone to show off their skills, let's show the other houses why we're known as the 'sporty' one.” - Your Sports Captain, Sam Pai

“This term, we've had another wonderful time with our weekly homegroup competitions.

As per our last update, we had a paper chain making competition to help with the decorations of the house area. We also had a Brainrot Quiz (Pop Culture), Math Problems (Math), Push-up Competition (Push-up Challenge), and a song-making competition based on your homegroup (Music). The winner at the time of writing has not yet been revealed, however we hope that whoever it was enjoyed the pizzas ;)” - Your Vice House Captain, Rachel Lee

Thank you for all your effort this term!!! Let’s make the next term even better!!! :)))

Lot of love, your Blackwood Leadership Team
