Boating Careers Immersion Day – Bairnsdale & Paynesville 2026               

 

Students recently participated in the Boating Careers Immersion Day, travelling from LESC to Bairnsdale and Paynesville to explore the many career opportunities available within the marine and maritime industries.

 

Our first stop was Gippsland RV & Marine where students were given a site overview and workshop tour. They had the opportunity to explore a range of boats and caravans up close, even jumping inside to get a better look at the different models and features. Staff generously treated students to some merchandise while also discussing the variety of careers available within the business, including marine technician, parts, service and administration roles.

 

Students then travelled to Gippsland Ports Boat Yard where they toured the boatyard and learnt more about day-to-day operations. This visit provided valuable insight into maritime infrastructure, vessel maintenance and the important work involved in keeping the boating industry operating safely and efficiently.

 

Throughout the day, students were introduced to a wide range of careers within the maritime industry and encouraged to think about future pathways connected to their interests and passions. For students who enjoy boating, fishing or working outdoors, the immersion day highlighted the many exciting opportunities that could be available to them in the future.
