Acting Principal's Message

Principal Arrangements Update
Dear Families,
I am pleased to inform you that I will continue in the role of Acting Principal at Lakes Entrance Secondary College for the remainder of the year. The substantive Principal position will be advertised in Term 4 with an expected 2027 start date.
Year 12 VCE VM – Lions Club & CFA Donation
One of the standout stories of the term has been the work of our Year 12 VCE VM students in partnership with the Lions Club of Gippsland Lakes Lionesses. Over the past month, these students have been volunteering their time each week – setting up and packing down bingo nights – and through that commitment they raised $1,000 which they presented to the Lakes Entrance Fire Brigade.
A huge thank you to the Lions Club for the opportunity, the Lakes Entrance CFA for welcoming our students, and to Ms South for her ongoing support and guidance throughout. We are very proud of all involved.
Reconciliation Week – ‘All In’
National Reconciliation Week this year carried the theme ‘All In’, and LESC was proud to be part of the Toorloo Arm Primary School Reconciliation Week Community Event alongside students, staff and families from Toorloo Arm Primary, Lakes Entrance Primary and St Brendan’s Primary School.
Work Inspirations Program – The Smith Family
In the final weeks of term, a group of our students took part in the Work Inspirations Program in partnership with The Smith Family – and by all accounts it was a genuinely valuable experience.
Day 1 took students to Wyanga Park Winery, where they explored career opportunities in the local hospitality and agricultural industries.
Day 2 took students to East Gippsland Shire Council and East Gippsland Water, where they met professionals across a wide range of fields – from Human Resources to Waste Management and worked through practical sessions on job applications and interview techniques.
Bright Sparks – Year 7 & 8
Our Year 7 and 8 students had a fantastic day out at GLaWAC and Forest Tech as part of the Bright Sparks program – exploring energy in a hands-on way through activities including Ozbots, building emergency energy kits, Energy Bingo and creative thinking through Hero for Net Zero Art Therapy. A great opportunity for our younger students to experience something a little different and take their learning outside the classroom.
Other Highlights
A very big congratulations to College Captain Alexis Smart, who received the incredible news this term that she has been selected to represent Australia in hockey. That is a remarkable achievement and a genuine reflection of her dedication and talent. We are incredibly proud of her.
Our Athletics Carnival was a really enjoyable day and it was particularly enjoyable to see students getting involved, supporting each other, and having a go. Credit to all of our students for their participation, staff for their support in running the day and in particular Mr Baker, who put a lot of work into organising this very successful event.
Do it for Dolly Day was another extremely successful school event raising awareness and funds for a very worthwhile cause. Well done to our VM students in particular for the part they played in organising and running events for this day.
Lastly, all of our Year 9 to 12 students need to be recognised for their efforts in completing their end of semester exams in the final weeks of term – well done for taking it seriously and giving it your best shot.
Thank You
I want to finish by saying a genuine thank you to the LESC community for the welcome I have received this term. To our staff, students and families – thank you for your patience, your warmth and your support as I have settled in.
Looking at what students have achieved this term, it is clear that there is a lot of great things happening at our school.
There is plenty of work ahead in Term 3 and I look forward to seeing you on the other side of the break.
Kindest Regards,
Daniel Clark
