Prep News

The Prep spaces have been buzzing with excitement as students continue to learn, play and grow together. We are delighted to share a snapshot of some of the wonderful learning experiences that have taken place recently.

📚 Literacy

In week 5, we read the story The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland. We talked about the beginning, middle and end of the story and how the characters were feeling.

This week we learnt about National Sorry Day. We read the stories Found by Bruce Pascoe and How the Birds Got Their Colours. 

🔤 Phonics

We have finished learning all the Stage 2 sounds. That’s 16 sounds!

It has been great to see that so much reading has been happening at home. Please continue to read regularly with your child and record this in your child’s take home journal. Congratulations to the following students for reaching 25 and 50 nights of reading: Henry, Isla, Oscar, Scarlett, Jaxson and Ivy

🔢 Mathematics

We have been learning about shapes. We have found lots of circles, triangles, rectangles and squares, and used these shapes to create some great shape pictures.

✝️ Religion

We are beginning to learn about Pentecost, the day that marks the end of the Easter season and the day when the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus’ disciples. We have learnt that the liturgical colour for Pentecost is red.

🌍 Inquiry

We are trying to help the Gingerbread Man get safely across the river! We have been looking at different materials and deciding which float or sink. We then used this information to design a boat.
