The Crucible - Live Performance

We were happy to welcome back the Complete Works Theatre Company to the school.  In what has become a yearly event, actors from the company performed Arthur Miller’s ‘The Crucible’ for Year 11 students.  This powerful performance brought to life the characters of Miller’s play and the hysteria of the Salem Witch Trials.  Using the setting as a stand in for the McCarthy trials in the red scare of 1950s America, the play explores ideas about integrity and the abuse of power.  Viewing a live play offers students a new perspective on their text and often highlights different aspects of the themes that we study.
