School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

At Bundoora Primary School we are off to a wonderful start to the year, and it has been a pleasure to see our students settling into their routines with such positivity and enthusiasm. Our morning routine continues to provide a calm and settled start to the day for our students. It has been great to see students entering classrooms ready to learn and demonstrating our school expectations from the moment they arrive.
Attached is a copy of our Behaviour Expectations Matrix for our new and Prep families. This outlines our school expectations and breaks them down across the different settings in our school. Using the same language at home of “Be Respectful, Be Responsible, Be Safe” is a powerful way to reinforce these expectations and build consistency for our children.
We are continuing to focus on positive acknowledgements. These are given when students are observed demonstrating our school expectations. When your child receives a positive acknowledgement, you will be notified via Compass through a notification and email. These may be awarded in the classroom, during break times in the yard, or even around the office area - Ms Straith loves catching students doing the right thing too!
Sometimes teachers will let students know at the time that they are receiving a positive acknowledgement, and other times it may simply come home via Compass as a lovely surprise.
Either way, it makes a wonderful conversation starter. Asking your child about it can be a great way to hear about the positive moments in their day too.
There is also an option for families to acknowledge that they have seen the notification in Compass. While this is not required, we always appreciate the partnership between home and school in celebrating our students’ success.
