The Preps have been very busy learning the rules and expectations of the Art room. They have completed beautiful pieces on Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year and are working towards using materials and tools safely.
Year 1/2 students have explored the artworks of Jim Dine, looking at the bright, colourful hearts he is famous for creating. Using his artwork as inspiration, they created their own heart suncatchers using fun colours and patterns. They look amazing on the art room windows! Students also completed a directed drawing of a horse for Lunar New Year, focusing on using the element of shapes to create and structure their design.
Year 3/4 students have explored the artworks of Alma Thomas, noticing her love of bright colours and repeated shapes. Using her artwork as inspiration, they created mosaic heart collages, carefully arranging small pieces of colour to form eye-catching designs. Students also used oil pastels and explored different techniques to create artwork inspired by Lunar New Year - Year of the Fire Horse.
Year 5/6 students have explored the calming and mindful art style of Zen tangle. They created detailed zentangle hearts, carefully filling each section with patterns and lines (called tangles) to make thoughtful and intricate artworks. Students also used oil pastels and explored different techniques to create artwork inspired by Lunar New Year - Year of the Fire Horse.
