Big Mac Tacos 

Our Food Technology students have had great fun adapting the traditional Taco's recipe into a new spin recipe called Big Mac Taco's!!

Big Mac Tacos 

Ingredients

 

  • 100 minced beef 
  • 2 small soft flour tortillas
  • ¼ tsp sea salt flakes
  • pinch freshly cracked black pepper
  • 1 Tbls Olive oil
  • 2 slices American (burger) cheese
  • ½ cup shredded lettuce 
  • 1 tbls sliced gherkins
  • 1 tsp onion, finely diced

 

 

Method

  1. Gather all ingredients and slice gherkins, dice onion and shred lettuce.
  2. Spread the beef on the tortillas – To make the tacos, divide the minced beef into half.  Spread the beef over the two tortillas. Season with salt and pepper
  3. Cook the 2 tortillas – Heat 2 large, heavy-based frying pan over medium–high heat. Add 1 tbls of olive oil and then carefully place a tortilla in the frying pan, meat-side down. Cook for 2–3 minutes, then flip and cook for a further 15–20 seconds. 
  4. Once the beef is cooked, flip the tortilla beef-side up and place a slice of cheese on top. 
  5. Assemble the tacos and serve – Top each taco with lettuce, pickles, onion and the special burger sauce.
  6. Optional - Make the special burger sauce – To make the sauce, add all the ingredients to a small bowl, mix well to combine and set aside.

Optional - SPECIAL BURGER SAUCE

  • ¼ cup whole-egg mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp finely chopped gherkins (dill pickles)
  • ¼ tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp ketchup
  • ¼ tsp sweet paprika
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • Sea salt flakes, to taste
  • Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
