Gear Change 

The Gear Change program continues to provide students with meaningful learning experiences that combine academic development, personal growth and real-world connections. The program is structured around five key areas: English, Mathematics, Wellbeing, Community Engagement and Team Building. This structure allows students to strengthen their literacy and numeracy skills while also developing confidence, resilience and positive relationships.

In English and Mathematics sessions, students focus on building foundational skills that support their success across all learning areas. Lessons are designed to be practical and engaging, helping students see the relevance of literacy and numeracy in everyday life. Wellbeing sessions provide opportunities for students to reflect, set goals and develop strategies to support their emotional and social development.

A key focus of the program is Community Engagement. Through our partnership with Frankston Youth Services, students have been able to connect with community programs and learn about the supports available to young people. These sessions help students build awareness of the wider community and encourage positive decision-making.

Students have also been actively involved in supporting the EMC Maintenance team by assisting with improvements to our classroom demonstration space. This hands-on experience has allowed students to contribute positively to the school environment while learning practical skills and teamwork.

Throughout the program, students have also participated in a range of hands-on learning experiences, including art and sport activities. These sessions encourage creativity, collaboration and physical wellbeing while strengthening connections between students.

Gear Change continues to provide a supportive environment where students can develop practical skills, build relationships and experience success both inside and outside the classroom.
