Attendance Matters

Dear Parents/Carers and Students,

Welcome to EMC’s Attendance Matters communication for 2026. At Elisabeth Murdoch College, we continue to focus on improving student attendance and emphasize the importance of arriving at school on time and being ready to learn each day.

If your child is going to be late due to an appointment or needs to leave early, please follow the procedures outlined below:

Sign In Process: If a student arrives late, they must sign in at Student Services (Senior students to sign in at Careers Office). Upon signing in, they will receive a pink "late pass". Students should present this late pass to their Home Group Teacher or their Session One Classroom Teacher, depending on the time they arrive at school.

Sign Out Process: If a student needs to leave early, a parent must enter an attendance note in Compass. Students will not be permitted to leave class or student services without this parental note on Compass. If a student is returning after an appointment, they must sign back in at Student Services.

The College aims to ensure that all absences are appropriately recorded and approved. To help us achieve this, we ask parents/carers to log into Compass through the parent portal to record the reason for their child's absence. If the late arrival is due to an appointment, please upload the medical certificate to Compass.

Should you need assistance with any part of this process, please feel free to contact your child’s Home Group Teacher.

Please remember:

• If your student is absent or arriving late, an attendance note must be submitted via Compass.
• For medical absences, a medical certificate is required. This can be uploaded to Compass or handed in to Student Services upon your student’s return.
• For missed SAC’s, a medical certificate is required. This can be uploaded to Compass or handed in to Senior Admin upon your student’s return.
