Foundation Experience Days for Foundation 2027

Cheltenham Primary School hosted three wonderful Experience Days over the last few months for our Foundation students of 2027. These sessions included Spectacular Sport, Sensational Science and an Amazing Art Program.
The Experience Days gave our future Foundation students the opportunity to explore different learning areas, participate in fun activities and begin to feel comfortable in the school environment before starting next year.
During the Sport session, Mr Penny organised round robin activities, including bowling, basketball bouncing, and throwing bean bags into hoops just to name a few. The students enjoyed moving through the activities and developing their confidence while having fun.
In Science, the students learned about the five senses: taste, touch, smell, hearing and sight. The lesson focused on the sense of touch. Mr Chronopoulos set up a range of mystery boxes around the room. The students placed their hands inside each box, described what they could feel, and then tried to guess what was hidden inside. At the end of the session, the mystery objects were revealed.
During the Art session, Mrs Jones-Denholm read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to the students. They then created their very own caterpillars, using their creativity and imagination.
Our current Foundation students acted as buddies to the future Foundation students throughout the program. They did a fabulous job helping, guiding and encouraging our visitors.
What a wonderful opportunity for our future Foundation students to experience life at Cheltenham Primary School and begin building confidence before starting school next year.
