Changing of the Guard for Environmental Council
The end of Term 3 traditionally marks the changing of the Executive Council, with the existing year 12 students handing over the responsibility to the year 11 students. I personally would like to thank Matt Manzano, Nicole Kiriamatu, Anita Nguyen and Sonia Chin who did a marvellous job in running the Environmental Council. Under their leadership, the 10c Earn and Return program has been expanded, with them laying the groundwork for incorporating new projects within the school. The existing members have overseen the raising of $1400, all of which has been donated to St Vinnies local community projects. I wish the Year 12's all the best with their HSC exams.
I would like to welcome the new Executive Environmental Council members of
Shae Beasley, Ruby Freund, Taylah Evans, Austin Blake and Maeve Black. They will be taking over the Environmental Council at the start of the fourth term. I look forward to what new projects and ideas they will bring to the Environmental Council.
The previous setbacks experienced at the start of the term have now been put fully behind the Environmental team, with a large number of plants ready for planting. The Environmental field teams have started to place a number of Lomandra grass matches along the school fence line.
At the start of term 3, a wide range of native seeds were laid, with the majority having germinated. The seedlings have now been transplanted to pots in the school green house to grow further and planting is scheduled for the start of term 4.
As there is a large number of plants, next term will be busy with extensive planting planned along the fence lines of the school.
