BOOST

The BOOST Program is up and running for Year 7 and 8 students for 2026!

BOOST is LSC’s literacy support program, providing targeted small group sessions to build students’ confidence and capability in reading and writing.

Our BOOST teachers have enjoyed a positive start to the program, getting to know their groups and guiding students to set individual reading goals and track their progress across the term.

The program focuses on building independence so students can apply these skills in their English classes and beyond. This term, students are working on

• decoding and fluency through guided reading 
• vocabulary building 
• comprehension strategies such as summarising and inferencing 

• using graphic organisers to unpack texts

   

You may notice your child becoming more confident in reading aloud, discussing texts, or selecting books independently. Families can support this growth by encouraging regular reading at home and talking with students about what they are reading.
