Programs and Engagement Update –
The Programs and Engagement team has continued to provide students across all year levels with a range of opportunities to celebrate success, build leadership skills, and strengthen engagement within the college community
Junior School
Junior School assemblies have continued to be a positive celebration of student achievement, with Progress Report Awards and Leadership Badges presented to students who have demonstrated outstanding effort and commitment throughout the term.
Students have also welcomed the return of Pizza Points, now introduced through a revamped system designed to encourage consistent attendance, participation, and engagement across all classes each week. The initiative has already generated great enthusiasm amongst students and staff alike.
Middle School
Year 9 students participated in the Road to Zero workshop during Week 2, gaining valuable insight into road safety, responsible decision-making, and road rules. In Week 3, students also attended the Digital Thumbprint workshop, which focused on cyberbullying, online behaviour, and maintaining a positive digital presence.
Preparations are currently well underway for the Year 10 Work Experience program, which will take place in Week 10 of Term 3. Students are actively exploring placement opportunities and preparing for this important step towards future pathways and career exploration.
Both Year 9 and Year 10 students were recognised during assemblies for their efforts and achievements in their Term 1 Progress Reports.
At the end of Term 1, a number of Year 10 female students attended the ABCN Focus Program. As part of this experience, students travelled into the city to work alongside women in leadership positions to further develop their own leadership capabilities. Students visited Vocus, a telecommunications company, where they collaborated on activities exploring the qualities and characteristics of effective leaders.
Senior School
Senior School students have continued to demonstrate outstanding initiative and leadership across a variety of areas.
Year 11 student leaders are currently planning and preparing to run their own student-led assembly. In addition, the Year 11 STEM leaders are working towards launching a Science Club for VCE students soon.
Year 11 students have also finalised the design for their Year 12 jackets and will soon begin the ordering process in preparation for next year. Meanwhile, Year 11 SRC representatives are in the process of establishing a debate team to further promote student voice and participation.
Year 12 students have been busy planning a range of exciting events and activities to celebrate their final year of schooling. The Events Committee has officially selected a Masquerade theme for the 2026 Year 12 Formal.
Students have also chosen their upcoming dress-up days, with PJ Day taking place during Term 2 and Decades Day scheduled for Term 3. As part of PJ Day celebrations, students will enjoy a movie screening in the library, with the film choice being decided through a student-led vote.
To acknowledge the midpoint of their final year, Year 12 students will also participate in a Halfway Morning Tea celebration later this term.
This term’s “Events Wall” activity invites students to draw self-portraits as a creative way to commemorate their final year at the college.
Additionally, one of the Year 12 School Captains is currently establishing a VCE Accounting and Business Management Homework Study Group to further support students with their studies.
Whole School
A wide range of clubs, programs, and engagement opportunities are now underway across the college. These include Breakfast Club on Thursday mornings, K-POP Club at lunchtime, the newly introduced Diplomacy Club, the “King of the Court” basketball program on Mondays at lunch, and the ongoing Koorie Program.
The VCE Excel Program has also been introduced for Year 11 and 12 students. The program focuses on supporting both academic progress and personal development by helping students identify and overcome barriers to success.
In March, SRC Leaders from Years 9–11, alongside the School Captain, attended the Youth Leadership Conference. This valuable experience further strengthened student voice and leadership within the college community.
Following the conference, the wider student leadership group facilitated a student forum in the Hall to gather feedback on the proposed Student Learning Profile Score initiative. Student feedback and ideas gathered during the forum will continue to be explored and discussed at upcoming SRC meetings.
