PHI, FINNEY, MCDONALD INDUSTRY INSIGHT SESSION:
On Tuesday, 21st October, a group of Year 11 Legal students from CESC attended an inspiring industry insight session at the specialist litigation law firm Phi, Finney & McDonald. Ourschool, the not-for-profit organisation that partners with CESC to build its alumni community, hosts these industry insight sessions in collaboration with employers.
We heard from Phi, Finney, & McDonald professionals about study pathways into law, and were also taken on a tour of the incredible Melbourne office which is situated directly across from the Supreme Court of Victoria. The energy in the room at this event was contagious & inspiring! Quote of the day: "It gave me the boost I needed... the reset I needed!" year 11 student.
INSPIRING RETURN OF ALUMNI AT YEAR 12 ASSEMBLY:
On Monday 20th October, we were thrilled to welcome back two fabulous alumni, Brahain Esequiel Valdez who graduated from CESC in 2016 and Fatima Ibrahimi who graduated in 2023. Fatima shared on life after school, preparing for exams, being kind to oneself, balance, the importance of friendships and life at University. She encouraged our students to "Lock in" for exams, to keep up self-care, to go to the gym and enjoy a coffee when time permits. She shared a few gems and we know they will resonate with those walking a similar pathway.
Brahain shared his journey since leaving high school, joining the ADF for a gap year, his experience in Civil Construction, trades, promotions and the balance between work and personal life. He spoke about changing careers, and received great excitement from the crowd when he shared about marrying the love of his life in 2022, and welcoming a baby girl in 2024. Both Brahain and Fatima put time, effort, emotion and thought into their words and stories, and we are SO grateful they were happy to share with us on a rainy Monday morning. They exhibited all that the Alumni community entails and aspires to be. We look forward to welcoming our Year 12's into our program next year, and look forward to hearing where life takes them and all they achieve!
