School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

SWPBS Launching During STEP UP –

November 24

We’re excited to share that School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) will officially begin at the College during STEP UP on the 24th of November. This marks an important shift as we transition from our current behaviour model to the new SWPBS Matrix (see below).

SWPBS is a whole-school framework designed to create a consistent, positive and predictable learning environment. By clearly teaching and recognising expected behaviours, SWPBS supports every student to feel safe, connected and ready to learn. This transition is a crucial step in building a shared language and approach across the College, ensuring that expectations are clear and consistent in every classroom and setting.

As part of this launch, students will see the SWPBS Matrix displayed in their classrooms and around the College grounds. They will also be explicitly taught the expected behaviours through a series of College-produced videos, designed to help embed the framework in a clear, engaging and consistent way.

One of the key features of SWPBS is positive reinforcement. Students will be recognised for demonstrating the behaviours outlined in the Matrix and will earn Positive Behaviour Points (PBP). These points can be saved and redeemed in “The Vault” for a range of exciting items and experiences. This recognition system is designed to celebrate students’ positive choices and build a strong sense of community and belonging.

We look forward to working in partnership with families as we launch this important initiative and continue to strengthen our school culture.

A kind reminder of how students can access wellbeing support;

•Students can come to wellbeing before school, at recess, lunch or after school to make an appointment.

•Students can ask a teacher or Year Level Leader to make a Wellbeing referral.

• If students need urgent support, ask your teacher to email or call the Wellbeing team.

Wellbeing can support students with the following challenges;

•If students are feeling sad, alone or depressed

•If students are feeling anxious or struggling with stress

•If students are experiencing challenges at home

•If students are feeling unsafe

•If students are struggling with self-esteem

•If students are struggling with emotional regulation or anger

•If students are struggling with sleep

•If students are struggling with motivation

•If students are struggling with grief or loss

•If students are concerned about a friend.

Wellbeing are looking forward to welcoming a new member of the team in the coming weeks following Hannah Coburn starting her maternity leave.
