ANZAC Day Commemoration

I would like to begin by thanking our School Captains and School Leaders who represented Great Ryrie Primary School at the ANZAC Dawn Service and laid a wreath on behalf of our school.

It is always a deeply moving experience to stand in silence alongside so many members of our community as we honour those who have served and sacrificed for our country.

There is something powerful about that stillness, the shared reflection, the sense of gratitude, and the collective commitment to never forget.

Lest we forget

The Stork has delivered....

The stork has certainly been busy at Great Ryrie this year.

Melissa Roberts and her partner Phil were thrilled to welcome a beautiful baby girl, Chloe Rose Martin, into the world on Monday 4 May. Miss Roberts is already introducing Chloe to timetables, fundraising events, and working out sausage numbers for Education Night! In all seriousness, Melissa is absolutely besotted with her beautiful baby girl, and both mum and bub are doing very well.

Just a month earlier, Ashlea M and her husband were overjoyed to welcome beautiful Hazel Grace McPhie into the world on 7 April 2026.

From all reports, baby Hazel already has everyone wrapped around her tiny fingers.

We are now eagerly awaiting more joyful news from our other expectant mothers.

Last week, we also officially farewelled Meaghan Edmondson as she prepares to welcome her own little bundle into the world. Meaghan is one of the kindest, most patient and nurturing educators, and any child who has had the privilege of being in her care will always remember the gentle way she makes every student feel valued and important each and every day.

The students gave Meaghan a beautiful send-off at assembly, complete with blue dummies, balloons, a Bluey song, and even a game of pass the parcel.

Mother’s Day & Special Persons Celebrations

As we begin our Mother’s Day and Special Persons Day celebrations, we were  fortunate to share a beautiful afternoon high tea together with our Prep mums and special people.

The Mother’s Day Stall was buzzing with the important task of choosing a special gift.

Thank you to our parent volunteers who organised and ran the stall and the purchasing of the gifts. There will be some very happy Mum's waking up on Sunday morning.

Mother’s Day Message

To all our families, we wish you a very special Mother’s Day on Sunday.

Mother’s Day is a time to pause and reflect on the incredible role of mothers and special people in our lives.

For me, it is a chance to spend time with my beautiful daughters and family, and to remember my own mum, who was always my greatest champion.

I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the simple things: a coffee (perhaps with a few too many spoons of coffee!), a slice of Vegemite toast with way too many layers, cuddles, homemade cards, and time together that becomes a treasured memory.

Wishing all our mothers and special people a day filled with love, appreciation, and connection.
